My students attend an urban, public school that focuses on college preparation using a rigorous International Baccalaureate academic curriculum and strong extracurricular programs. Approximately, 50% of our students qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program. Our student body is extremely ethnically, economically, and creatively diverse.
Our students push the classroom instruction to build them into strong learners who: inquire, communicate, show compassion through service, take-risks, and reflect on how their education can give back to our local and global communities. As a result, toughly 80% of our graduating students go on to post-secondary 2 or 4 year colleges.
In class, I push students to ask questions, explain ideas with evidence, and critically evaluate real-world models. As such, I strive to provide students with opportunities to engage with cutting-edge equipment and tools for relevance.
