Each school year, the first thing I work on is getting the students to think of our classroom as a family. To achieve this, I have found that art is the key. A cooperative group project does wonders for their self-esteem, a sense of family, and a feeling of accomplishment. I would like to give my students the unique opportunity to create a mural on an outdoor wall at our school. A piece of art not just for themselves, but for the entire school and future students. I am asking for supplies including mural paint, varnish, and brushes. We will collaborate on the entire project, start to finish. I also hope to create an even bigger sense of community by enlisting family help as well. I am so excited for the day when I look out my classroom window and no longer see a blank, dirty wall, but a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Finally, I see a lasting impact that will trickle over to other classrooms all over the school. Maybe another classroom will be inspired to continue what we started...(the wall spans about 50 yards,) or another will want to start a class garden nearby. Thank you so much for considering my project. I am over the moon excited to get started.
