The focus of this school year will be increasing student engagement through engaging techniques and technology. According to Dr. Gordon R. Haley & Dr. Phyllis A Parise, student engagement occurs when a specific situation captures the attention of a student (Palmer, 2009). The iPads will be used for engaging tools like Plickers, Kahoot, Quizziz, TodaysMeet, etc. to capture the students' attention which will improve learning and retention of content. The Keurig machine is for use of my senior English students in the mornings before school to reflect and prepare for learning (Enlightenment). Enticing seniors to come to a quiet, peaceful place where they can sip a cup of coffee or tea, study, and prepare for the day gets them at school, which will decrease absenteeism and tardiness. After discussing my ideas with my administrator and gaining her support and enthusiasm, I was informed that current budget constraints at MCPS prevent the principal from purchasing requested items for my classroom use. Therefore, I am requesting these items through this platform.
