Approximately 1000 students in grades preK through 8 attend our innovative Arizona school. Most of our students thrive in the school culture we have created, despite their personal obstacles such as living in poverty or being second language learners. Unfortunately, severe budget cuts undermine our best efforts to provide a rich and equitable educational landscape for the children we serve. Much of the limited technological tools we have are obsolete or in disrepair and the store of playground equipment is very lackluster. Luckily, students are still able to participate in visual art, music, and physical education programs at our school. They can also visit their school library with thousands of relevant reading resources for research or pleasure. Community gathering and learning spaces have been designated for students to collaborate, celebrate, and investigate in a project-based academic environment.
