My approach to teaching is that in every person, there is an artist whom just need the 鈥減ush鈥 to come out. Their artistry can take on different shapes; art, dance, music, theater, writing, etc. Sadly, we don鈥檛 automatically know what our nitch will be. This is why I feel that it is my responsibility to expose my students to a variety of art forms and styles, because I don鈥檛 know what will ultimately catch their interest and their desire to explore more.
The supplies that I am requesting are for two separate projects, one is a self portrait project and the second is a rug making project. The miniature easels acts as a stand that the students can rest their mirrors on while they are drawing themselves. Their work will be colored with color pencils. The second project allows the students to work with their hands as they to create yarn rugs. The students will use the latch hooks to attach strips of yarn to the canvas mesh, creating different design patterns.
