The materials will make a big difference because students lack the ability to do things hands on. For one of the items, "Fraction Tiles," it will be used as a way of showing how to add and subtract fractions and how it relates to a whole number or pie.
Another great tool that I added was equation tiles, where students will be able to use these tiles hands on to isolate the variable and solve.
The issue with students who struggle with equations is that they do not understand the issue of isolating the variable. They get confused to what side numbers go to and how the correct mathematical way to transfer numbers from one side of the equal sign to the other.
The key to students being successful is the application of the standard. They need resources to do stations for hands-on application.
