Imagine a classroom with little to no behavior issues where students are highly engaged, frequently active, and extremely attentive. A child's ability to pay attention increases when they are given the opportunity to move. Exercise grows brain cells! My students are 6th graders and LOVE to move it while learning! We get up and do activities often, but during direct instruction it is really challenging to stay seated in our uncomfortable chairs. Students in our classroom are active! We have a lot of athletes and our classroom has some students with attention and learning challenges. Our school is a community of learners, where we support each other each day and work together as a team to achieve our goals.
