The earbuds that I am requesting will help the students out on a daily basis. Each week the students are asked to log onto Reading and Math programs that the district has purchased and these programs require the students to listen to stories and directions. The programs also help struggling students out by reading the questions and answers to them, but my students need working earbuds to listen to all of this.
Trying to do your work without the proper materials is hard on everyone! When students do not have earbuds, they have to listen to their lesson using the speaker on their laptops. This makes it hard for others to concentrate and disrupts the learning environment.
Also, many students in our Title 1 school do not have the funds to purchase extra school supplies beyond the basic paper and pencils so the teacher is usually supplying the earbuds for the students. Having every student prepared for learning makes the students feel like they matter and goes back to our motto of, "Every Person Matters, Every Moment Counts". If students have the necessary materials to learn, students will not have to share supplies and time will not be wasted.
