My students have Chromebooks in the classroom, but often come to class without the basic essentials. With adult responsibilities, I don't want to penalize them for not having supplies. I have asked that they bring paper and a writing utensil, but some are doing well to be present. I want my room to be an inviting, safe place. I have received two second-hand chairs for them to utilize as alternative seating. While decor is not my main concern, their comfort level is. With these supplies, they will have pencils, pens, and paper. I plan to use the hanging file for assignments. If a student misses, they can go to the file to retrieve the work.
