My children come from the mountains of rural North Carolina. Many of these students have chickens at home, but have no idea what actually is happening inside the egg.
My students struggle to have basic needs met at home, yet are some of the most endearing and enthusiastic kids I have ever met. This project will allow these students to truly experience the entire life cycle of an animal.
The materials requested for this project will allow my students to incubate fertile eggs, use an egg candler to see inside the developing egg, and finally to see chicks emerge from the shell. Once the life cycle is complete, students will learn about how to meet the basic needs of these living animals.
