Thank you for your interest in my project! Please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Jeanne Calais, and I am a Geometry teacher in Cecilia, Louisiana.
At our school, 65.4% of our students qualify to receive free lunch.
I have been teaching for 12 years. Two years ago we took our math program to the next level by using LSU’s My Math Lab, an online program where the students log-in to work on assignments and exams. The biggest obstacle that my students faced was not having access to the Internet at home. To accommodate, after teaching the day’s lesson, I left 20 to 45 minutes for my students to work on their assignments during class. The students who didn’t have access at home were allowed to print their assignments; however, the first year using the program my classroom wasn't equipped with computers. To make matters worse, the lab we used did not have a printer. It was the students’ responsibility to print their assignments before they left for the day on any working printer they could find. As you might imagine, this was not 100% effective.
My classroom is now equipped with Chromebooks which is really exciting! I am asking for financial help to assist me in purchasing a cloud printer and ink. With this, students who have no or limited access at home will be able to print right from my classroom. No more printer hunting! Thanks again for your interest.
