My second grade students are very bright and curious children. These students have grown up in the age of technology. When they aren't learning at school they are at home on the Internet accessing our new Common Core math series or searching for math fact games. They are a diverse group of students who come from different cultures where English is a second language, students with special needs and students who are high energy and have short attention spans. Visuals are the key to success with these types of children. With our school implementing the Common Core standards, we strive to focus on problem solving and multiple paths to solve problems in math and science. Students encounter real-life problems and find unique solutions by applying their knowledge and ideas. IPads would enable me to support all of my diverse students by providing a vivid visual aide to support their diverse language skills
