My students are hungry, not only for the food in the cafeteria, but also for the lessons in their books. Our school is a Title I school located in Atlanta. We have approximately 350 sixth grade students who we expose to a variety of learning experiences. I teach over 100 students. Getting students to read and write is a daily challenge. In my classroom the students have a wide range of reading abilities with the majority of them reading below grade level. Many don't want to read because it is too difficult while others choose not to read because they're not interested in the textbooks. Finding relevant and relatable material for middle schoolers is a daily challenge. These resources hold my students attention while promoting meaningful discussion.
