My preschoolers are enthusiastic about reading. Gazing at pictures and retelling stories, finding letters, words and environmental print they recognize nourishes my students' language and literacy development. Our scholars enjoy sitting with their peers and reading together. Showing astonishing interest in literacy many of our children are learning to be independent readers, and enjoy spending time reading to us teachers.
This new library center will be a place that invites them to be calm and quiet, a place where they can be alone with their favorite characters, a place where the can get lost in a wonderful story, a place where their imagination will be stimulated and a place where a love of reading begins.
Our preschoolers will benefit from your generosity by developing the following skills and life long literacy tools:
• Print motivation
• Vocabulary
• Print awareness
• Letter knowledge
• Narrative skills
• Phonological awareness
Our current classroom library center is not physically attractive and lacks the comfort-ability and adequate storage space for the children in our classroom. With our extremely limited budget and resources we are asking for your help to make our classroom dream come true.
Our class is asking for a library center that features an arch and attached storage shelves. To add elements of comfort we’re also asking for a carpet that will brighten the space and make it more inviting and attractive.
