My classroom is diverse, with children coming from a myriad of backgrounds, ethnic groups, and economic levels. Most of my kids are from formerly financially stable families who are falling on hard times. They do not have much access to magazines or books that interest them unless it is provided by the school. My school when from having the majority of the students coming from upper middle class families to being over 50% free/reduced lunch in just 3 years.
