My school is located in a low-income neighborhood in Oakland. About two-thirds of students are Latino, 13% are African-American, and the remainder are Asian-American, white, or multi-ethnic. Ninety-five percent of students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program for low-income children.
My school has received multiple awards and honors, including the California Distinguished School Award. We are committed to giving all students an equal opportunity to attend college and pursue their dreams. We pursue this goal by teaching students about college, holding high expectations for all students, developing strong community and family partnerships, and ensuring ongoing professional development and collaboration among staff.
