I am a third year teacher who teaches a 1st grade class of 24 students who are 100% English Language Learners. Their English language skills are still in the early developmental stages, and it is vital that I do at least one to two read alouds each day to expose them to language and vocabulary they are not receiving at home. Many of them do not get read a bed time story at home as most of their families speak only Spanish. It is important that they receive support in language while they are in school.
