Thank you for taking an interest in my project for a collection of books. The purpose of this project is to build a small library in my new classroom. I am a first year teacher who previously served with a non-profit organization. There, I provided support to students with both math and literacy.
Now, I will be teaching 8th grade English in my very own hometown because of my passion for literacy and for learning. My hometown is considered a low-income community. Over 90% of students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Please be a part of my journey by helping me to bring some awesome books to get kids excited about reading! Many of the books are culturally relevant. My goal is for students to feel connected to what they are reading and to get them talking about literature and the effect it has on their living experience.
Thank you so much for choosing to be a part of this!
