My students are the best! Sadly, they come from areas that don't fully support the importance of a quality and positive school experience. They may lack fundamental skills, but they have hearts and imaginations that are larger than life! Our school is a Title 1 elementary school that provides instruction to 500 K-4 students. My class is composed of students with special needs and general education students. We promote positive learning, acceptance, tolerance and a love of learning. Some of my students are experiencing school for the first time when they enter my class whereas others have attended pre-school and then pre-k. This creates not only an academic gap but a behavioral gap as well. We spend a large majority of time just on expectations, rules and procedures in order to work as a well oiled machine. Some days are more trying than others for the kids but we push our way through. I learn from my students everyday and that makes me a better teacher. We are agents of change!
