My students are smart, artistic, interesting, and enthusiastic about learning! I teach Ceramics and Painting at a high school in Meriden, CT. Our general population is in a low-income area, but students come from loving, engaged, and hard-working parents! I love my school and spend lots of time there- this means teaching a full day, and also teaching three extended day enrichment classes four days a week. My goal is to build student's confidence so that the art room is considered a safe space where students feel comfortable creating art, expressing themselves, and learning together. I always want to give students opportunities in my class they might not get at home. For years I would use my own money so I could expose students to newer supplies, artistic mediums, organizational materials, and books in a comfortable classroom.
