I have the best group of 3rd grade students. There are 23 amazing kids; 12 are African American, 6 Caucasian, and 5 are Hispanic. The majority of my students come from low income homes. Our school is a Title I school that has 87% free and reduced lunch.
When my students have a question they love to ask Google. They have so many questions and yearn to learn as much about those subjects as possible. Research has been a huge part of my curriculum this year and we integrate it in all subjects. However, my class is very limited to technology with only three lap tops that work, sometimes. This is very frustrating to my students who are on fire and want to learn but also have short attention span to technology that may or may not work. I have a goal to try and provide my students with 1 to 1 technology and give them more opportunity to answer those burning questions in my classroom . Most of my students do not have the resources at home and have to travel to public facilities with computers.
