Students need a variety of materials available to them in order to be exposed to and acquire a deeper understanding of different types of text. My classroom lacks different types of non-fiction and informational text and I strongly believe that the addition of current event magazines along with science magazines will greatly benefit my students. I want to provide colorful, quality content magazines to my students and be able to use them for our habitat unit so they can learn about our world. We will also be using these magazines to detect different types of informational text, and to make habitat collages. I want to inspire my young fourth graders to become future scientists, historians, journalists, and so much more. Thank you for your help!
