I am a middle school mathematics teacher at a Title I school in west Baltimore. We are a smaller school, but this means that our community of students, staff, and families is extremely close. My brilliant 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are an absolute joy to teach. They are compassionate and driven to succeed while facing an array of challenges both in and out of school. These scholars truly try to make lemonade out of the lemons life has given them.
One of the biggest hurdles that students in high need schools face is a lack of the necessary materials that are needed daily. It makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in activities and classwork when they do not have basic supplies. I hope to fill this gap in resources and give my students the educational experiences that they deserve, because they inspire me every day to be the very best teacher I can possibly be for them.
