In our school, we use the Core Knowledge curriculum which deepens and expands the state standards. As fifth graders, for example, we meet the standard of determining theme while studying Shakespeare and Langston Hughes. As an ag based school, our 5th graders meet science and engineering standards by working on garden projects and designing packaging for transporting agricultural products.
