I teach three levels of Gifted Resource each day (3rd through 5th grade).
My school currently has 96% of the population that qualify for free or reduced lunch. As a result of our students coming from low income households, basic school supplies are needed to maximize their learning potential. In addition to school supplies, I believe it is important to create a healthy, safe, and supportive classroom space. It is crucial that students have an environment in which they are encouraged to use trial and error without consequences or judgement. In order to meet each student where they are in their learning process, it is important to have the ability to present the material using various techniques. Without the needed supplies, this would not be possible- it truly takes a village.
