Flexible seating will allow students to move while learning, which increases oxygen and blood flow to the brain. That increases the likelihood of them staying focused and attentive during lessons. Flexible seating teaches responsibility, each student will know the clear expections while seated in each seat. Flexible seating helps my students with sensory issues and ADHD. Students will feel a sense of freedom and comfort with the new seating. Freedom in choosing what they'd like to sit on and they'll feel comfortable in their seating.
I have chosen wobble stools, floor cushions, bean bags, and cushioned stools for the new seating in my classroom! The floor cushions will be used at a lowered table. The wobble stools will definitely help my students with ADHD, they'll be able to move while working. The bean bags can be used anywhere in the classroom, they can pull them to a lowered table or in the open area and use a clipboard. The cushioned stools will be used at any table or also just with a clipboard.
I specifically have one student with severe allergies that has to sit by a purifier all day, I love that he can pull any on the seats to his table and still feel involved!
