I have about 28 students at this time. We are in a very poor town. The school is k-8 with about 600 students. The school is thriving to do better for the students. We are implementing some programs but funding is limiting what can be done. Many of my students are latchkey kids. They are at home with older sibling while parents are working. I have a handful of students that receive extra help from the resource department.
Many of my students have not been out of the rural area that we live in. Unfortunately, many of my students have had multiple teachers in the past two years as a result their education is behind. In 1st and 2nd grade they had many substitute teacher in their class for many different reasons. As a result the structure was very limited. I actually came into the classroom 4 weeks into school as a result of a shortage in staff. So they started 3rd with a substitute teacher again.
