The use of calculators in a high school math class is not only a desire, but a need. Teaching Analytic Geometry and higher is a challenge when students do not have calculators to check their work, especially when language is an added barrier. With 80% of students coming to class without calculators (no resources), as well as serving in a Title I school (more than half receiving free or reduced lunch), it is easy to get discouraged. However, having calculators accessible would allow students to be able to evaluate problems more effectively and efficiently, as well as being able to check their work. Donations to this project will not only help my students become productive mathematicians, but will drastically improve critical thinking and understanding of the difficult content.
