All children can learn. As Dr. Lovass once said, "If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn." I truly believe this and my projects reflect my desire to vary and improve my skills as a teacher, motivate students to learn, and show them they can learn. I appreciate you reviewing the projects for my class. I teach special education in a public middle school. My students have varied abilities. My students are incredible children diagnosed with specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, fetal alcohol syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and other health impairments that make learning a challenge but not impossible. Daily, I get to witness their excitement when a skill or idea come together, their "aha moments". I hope that you will recognize the value of our class projects and be able to support us.
