Our students come from countries all over the world and have a very diverse background. Many of them are learning English as a second language and need to have English modeled in various ways. Using a listening center would help them by being able to control the volume and speed of the English input as well as using the visual clues from the books to help them understand. They also can rewind if they don't understand! This is something very hard to do in the real world! Those students that already have a great grasp of the language will increase their vocabulary and pronunciation by listening to the narrator and seeing the word printed before them.
