My students are the highest need in the school - the special education and 504 kids! They attend a low-income, mostly African American school in an inner-city of Louisiana. They are from mostly poor neighborhoods where crime and violence run rampant. Yet, with everything they go through they still make it to school, and for that, they amaze me! The school they attend is fairly small, about 200 students, but our plan is to grow one grade level every year until we are a K-12 school. My plan at the school is not only to work with these high-need kids, but also to build a strong and efficient department to serve them. I truly believe that with the right resources and support, these students can achieve their goals and become positive and crucial members of their communities!
