We are a school in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan who is trying to improve our school/community connection and help create a positive space where students can go for tech help and excellent resources. Students here are very involved in the community and awareness campaigns such as The Bully Project which was held the week before spring break.
Students at our school are aware of the fact that their digital footprint truly matters to their future. Our goal to create this space includes a corner of digital citizenship and footprint awareness for the benefit of all students and adults who come to the shop. Other corners will include standardized testing resources, careers/future, 'Google it' to teach resourcefulness in learning, an anti-bullying/cyber-bullying corner and more.
The accounting class is participating in true Project Based Learning by running the books for this shop. This gives the students an excitement about the material that can't be replicated with book data alone.
