This is my first year teaching at a regular city public school and the disparity of resources that are available for students is alarming. Many of my students come from difficult home lives, but when they walk through the door, they are excited to be at school so that they can learn. My students are asked to try their best and to challenge themselves each and every single day. We believe that if we set our goals high, and we constantly work hard, then we will definitely achieve our goals and more. My school has a strong, tight-knit, collaborative community that is reflected in how students work in the classroom. Students embody the values of teamwork and respect, and support and encourage each other especially when they see their peers struggling. These incredible students deserve access to the same learning resources of their peers, as well as other educational opportunities.
