My classroom is filled with curious, creative learners. They are in first grade and are building the foundations to become life-long learners.
Inside the school they are safe. When they leave, a number of my kids don't know when they will get their next meal, or unfortunately even where they will sleep that night. But when they come to school, they know they are safe, loved, and can rely on any teacher to give them a snack when they are hungry.
My classroom is an escape from fear and judgment where students let their creativity guide them as they soar through adventures in learning. Reading is a big part of this. My students LOVE to hear stories and are in the process of learning to read. Resources are VERY limited where I teach, but with the help and support of kind people, I know my students are going to continue on their path to become the most amazing contributors to the community and world around them!
