For science, my 3rd grade scientists will be exploring forms of energy, states of matter, the sun and stars, types of plants, and classifying animals. We traditionally use interactive paper foldables and engaging activities/investigations that involve our textbooks to reach student achievement. How powerful would it be for them to enhance their learning by using 6 accessible Amazon Fire tablets that have protective cases. For example, connecting to a live web camera of a local zoo to observe and collect data on characteristics of elephants during a lesson would be amazing!
Having these tablets would invite a collaborative experience inside and outside my classroom, as these young scientists explore, create and share information. These tablets would be used independently, in pairs, and in small groups. Additionally, tablet applications, such as myON Reading, National Geographic Kids, Discovery Kids, and utilizing the camera, will allow our students to research on their own.
