My goal this year is to create a classroom that is designed for student comfort and well being. The comfy couch and rug are the final pieces that are needed to create a family type environment in the corner of the room. This "nook" will be decorated using neutral tones while incorporating oversized pillows and soft throw blankets. Students will feel comfortable, connected, relaxed, and ultimately be inspired to learn. "I want the students to view the classroom as their space." Students will be able to relax on the couch with a good book or simply sit on the rug around an oversized coffee table to complete activities together. This area will also be beneficial for classroom meetings. One of the benefits in creating this type of space is that it will build a much needed community in the classroom.
