We are a class of kindergarten and first grade special education students in an urban school district. We work hard and learn each day despite the challenges of autism and learning disabilities. Our school district has a very high poverty rate and has suffered budget cuts that seriously impact our ability to purchase materials. The majority of students in our school are on free or reduced lunch and come from homes in which educational resources are limited.
