I have been practicing yoga since I was a teenager. When I became a teacher, it was important to me to build a yoga and mindfulness practice into my classroom.
I am a first year teacher this year, and I have already seen the benefits of yoga and mindfulness in my students when we are able to build these things into our daily routine.
Ever since I decided I wanted to be a teacher, I have been interested in social emotional learning, and as I have worked with students with intellectual disabilities this year, I have realized just how important SEL is. It is so important for kids to learn how to be mindful of their emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It is also important for my students to learn skills that they can use to regulate their emotions.
Through the Breath for Change training, I will learn how to help my students to become more mindful, regulate their emotions, and become more socially and emotionally aware through the practice of yoga and mindfulness.
About my class
