Our school day is built around whole group, small group centers and children's choice time. These activities are successful when they are fueled by a variety of developmentally appropriate, inviting, hands on choices for students to enjoy. Their day should be filled with building, pretending, creating, sharing, learning and growing.
When our transitional kindergarten students come to school for the first time it is important for it to be a warm, welcoming, engaging and exciting environment that they will want to return to day after day. I want to create this environment with your help. We need dramatic play costumes, sand and water table materials, painting and puppet center needs, creative blocks, Dr. Seuss listening center, playhouse dolls, alphabet play and a variety of floor puzzles. Creating a room that is developmentally appropriate and thrilling for our 4-5 year old students is a challenge but so worth the effort!
