In kindergarten, the learning occurs through social experiences, hands-on (aka manipulatives), and play!
The use of hands-on manipulatives are vital for my Kinder Kids success!! These various manipulatives help strengthen the child's fine motor skills, help to create engaging math activities, and instills a love for learning in all subject areas.
For children the notion that learning can be hands-on, engaging, and fun is a win-win situation. For example, the use of stringing beads, utilizing tweezers, manipulating small objects like "alphabots" will help strengthen students fingers, which ultimately will help with their handwriting skills.
With the pandemic, my Kinder Kids continue to need to learn and explore by the use of manipulatives. However, they cannot share their items due to spreading germs with each other. We have created individual bins for each student to have access to. The goal is to have individual bins for each student to help with their academic needs (fine motor, math, and literacy).
