As a transitional kindergarten teacher, my students and I spend a lot of time on the rug area to enhance student learning. We start and end our day on our classroom rug. We use the classroom rug to have morning meetings, listen to read alouds, participate in activities, whole group lessons, and center time. Additionally, I plan to use this rug for social and emotional learning. Many of my young students have a short attention span and proximity is important for effective instruction. Carpet time in elementary makes up and establishes the classroom culture by having all of the students centralized and listening, and allows for better collaboration and participation. I want my students to have a comfortable spot in my room where they are able to learn to the best of their ability. This rug will be the finishing piece in my classroom to tie everything together. Please help me achieve this goal.
