Bookshelves, flexible reading chairs, and a rug help to designate a classroom library space and demonstrates the importance of reading to our students. Students begin to associate reading with joy, peace, connection, and comfort rather than a chore in a classroom or at a desk.
Flexible spaces provide students with the option to control and self-advocate for the conditions in which they can be the best learners and listeners possible.
These materials, like so many things, can often be taken for granted or mistreated. In our classroom, we work tirelessly to honor our community and the beautiful spaces we create and live in together.
