My classroom is part of a full-time gifted program within Columbus City Schools. My students come from all over the city of Columbus, which provides for a diverse learning community.
We are a classroom community of readers who dedicate time for reading daily. I do my best to surround my students with relevant and meaningful books in order to them individual choice in reading material.
My students are also very aware of and passionate about social justice and civil rights. They read about the past, make connections to the present, and seek to change the future.
We are a classroom community of researchers who thirst for knowledge. They are tech-savvy and relish the opportunity to use technology creatively.
We have been working to build a dedicated robotics time into our classroom schedule to support our learning in math and science. Robotics and coding are a passion for many of my students.
