I am starting a 5th and 6th grade honors choir at my elementary school. This is going to require storage for their binders; tablet paper and an easel to teach solfege, lyrics, and rhythm; and an organizational area for them to pick up music and other important papers. By providing these items for my students, it will show them their effort and commitment to rehearsals and performances is noticed and valued.
Students in today's culture need a place to express themselves without criticism or fear of failure and music is a viable option for them to do so. Through this honor choir, I hope to provide my students with an extra opportunity to learn choral technique, teamwork as an ensemble, and to instill in them a lifelong love of sharing music with others.
