My social studies class is extremely hands-on and interactive. We create our own mini worlds, take " trips to Siberia", discover natural hazards, interactive mapping labs, create historical documents and many other activities to try to bring History alive in our class. These tablets/Chromebook's, will be used for students throughout the year in a variety of ways. An example is when the students work on their natural hazard projects they will have access to a variety of first hand experiences that they can research and be able to present to the rest of the class. Students will also work on creating videos to present on different topics throughout the year. The tablets will allow for a wealth of creativity and individuality. When students take ownership in their learning, depth of knowledge increases.
I strive to make learning exciting and provide equal opportunities for all students to grow and learn. Our text has many more interactive activities that I would love for my students to take advantage of but having devices for every student to use is difficult. I would also love for the students to have access to authentic information online right at their fingertips and having more technology accessible would allow this.
