Students in my class come from different economic backgrounds and they cannot always bring the required materials to class. Notebooks, pens, colored pencils, and kleenex are often luxuries.
More than 50% of students come from low-income households.
By having classroom materials and books available to all students gives everyone an equal opportunity to learn and grow. The basic classroom materials of notebooks and art supplies will allow my students to express their knowledge in a variety of ways. The different books will give students the opportunity to learn about different people in the world and to also read about topics that may be impacting their own lives.
