An area rug for our classroom will provide my students with a nice, cozy place to sit during whole group and small group activities. Because small group instruction is utilized in my classroom, my students are not often sitting in their seats.
We have several areas around our classroom designed for small group activities and stations. Having a rug in our newly tiled classroom will provide the students with a place to sit and read during their "read to self" and "read with someone" stations and a place to work with partners during our "math with someone" station. We will also use the rug for whole group mini-lessons and read-alouds.
