I am in my second year teaching. I want to supply my students with these tools to begin to create a student-centered classroom.
Sitting in the same spot, in rows, is not how our students learn anymore. Children need to move and a classroom environment that encourages discovery and deeper learning, with a flexible design is fundamental to this generation of teaching and learning.
Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
