I am currently a teacher at an elementary school in Georgia. I serve a group of very unique students. My classroom is a self-contained class for children grades 2-4 who have specific learning disabilities (SLD for short). This means that my students have average levels of cognitive ability, but for some reason their performance in the classroom does not quite reach that level and they struggle to access and understand grade level curriculum. My class size is small, but the demands of each student is great. My students are kind-hearted, motivated, and hard working, but they face daily academic and social challenges. My goal every day is to help my students perform to their highest potential and make sure they feel successful and loved while at school.
