Students will use the Code-a-Pillar and Code and Go Mouse to gain a basic understanding of block coding. In small learning groups, students will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experiences with these technology tools while also working on their team building and interpersonal skills.
By grasping an introduction to coding, students will be on their way to gaining one of the most important job skills of the future.
Students will program the Code-a-Pillar and Code and Go Mouse to different areas of the classroom using coding commands such as go up, down, left, and right. By acquiring these skills at such a young age, my first grade students will be able to excel in computer-based coding in higher grade levels and will have an inherent interest in STEM fields.
